South Lake Pop Warner Eagles Pee Wee Football Team is having a spectacular season!! They won the Pop Warner Western Conference with a record of 8 and 0!! Then they won the first playoff round verses South Orange and next went on to beat the undefeated University Cougars. They advanced to the Mid Florida Conference Game where both South Lake and Deland were an impressive 10 and 0. South Lake won the game 30 to 14 after trailing at the half 14 to 8. Way to go!!

South Lake moved into the First Round of the Southeast Regional Playoffs and faced the Santa Fe Raiders who ended up being 3rd in the Nation last year at Disney's Pop Warner Super Bowl. The game was 0 to 0 at half. The Raiders scored on the board first and took a 6 to 0 lead with 5:00 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. With 35 seconds left in the game, South Lake threw a pass deep to the wide receiver, the two defenders collided and the pass was caught by South Lake and ran in for a 75 yard TD with only 27 seconds left in the game. Wow!!

South Lake kicked the 2 point conversion and won the game 8 to 6. What a fantastic finish it was for the Eagles. The South Lake Eagles played the Orange Park Tigers in the Southeast Regional playoffs second round at Flagler Palm Coast High School in Palm Coast and lost a heartbreaker of a game.

The last time South Lake Pop Warner was this deep in the regional playoffs was in 2004 where the featured running back sensation at the University of Florida, Jeff Demps, was on the Midget team. Ironically enough, they lost the second round playoff game to the Orange Park Tigers.

We would like to thank the South Lake Pee Wee's, for continuing to keep up the great momentum all season long. “Never Give Up - Never Give In”! South Lake Dominate! Special Thanks to all of our coaches, families, friends and fans!! We cannot do this without you!! We love you! Let’s continue to Rock The House for the years to come! Each year, the most academically accomplished Pop Warner kids compete for Academic All-American status. This process begins at the association level and up through each of the eight Pop Warner regions to the national level. In 2008, approximately 400,000 kids participated in Pop Warner. As our numbers once again reached record levels, 276 First Team members, over 5,000 Second Team members and 1,000+ Honorable Mention scholars were named as Academic All-Americans at the National Level for 2007-2008. The PWLS All-American Program requires a minimum 96% grade point average to apply for All-American status. After the applications have been processed, Pop Warner determines National First Team All-Americans (35 football, 25 cheer per grade), National Second Team All-Americans and National Honorable Mention Scholars. We would like to congratulate the following football players and cheerleaders from South Lake Pop Warner Eagles who made Mid Florida’s “First Team All American” for their accomplishments in Scholastic’s!!

The 2007 Football and Cheerleading Season all in all was a big success as usual for the South Lake Pop Warner Eagles. Our Midget Team won the Kansas City Tiebreaker and lost in the semi-final game to very good football team from Space Coast who is expected to make it to the Pop Warner Super Bowl at Walt Disney World in December. Our Jr. Pee Wee Team made it all the way to the Mid Florida Championship game at the Citrus Bowl on November 4th and lost a heartbreaker 16 - 9 to Azalea Park. South Lake had their chances but was unable to score twice inside the opponents five yard line. Our Pee Wee Cheer Squad placed third at the Mid Florida Cheer Competition and will advance to the Chancey Cheeroff on November 10th. Our Jr. Midgets Cheer Squad also advanced to the Regional Competition for their second year in a row! Their competition will take place on November 25th at the new UCF Arena. They are excited and looking forward towards their goal of First Place this year as last year they finished Second in the Nation! Way to Go South Lake Pop Warner Eagles!! What a Great 2007 Season!!!

Let's Hear it for the 2007 Cheerleaders!!

South Lake Pop Warner Eagles competed at Disney's Wide World of Sports for our National Cheerleading Competition on December 5th, 2007. We competed against all the top teams in the Nation. There were ten teams in our category and every team there was just phenomenal! Our Pop Warner Eagle Cheerleaders did it again! We brought home another 2nd Place Trophy from Nationals! This is the same group of Cheerleaders along with a couple of new girls that went last year to Nationals and Placed 2nd. We are so very proud of our Jr. Midget Cheerleaders and all of their accomplishments. They have worked so hard without complaint and it has definitely paid off. We also would like to send out a big THANK YOU to all of our parents that gave up their Thanksgiving week to make sure their child attended every practice. You are what makes this Cheer team really work! Much appreciation also goes out to our many sponsors that helped make it possible to attend these competitions! Without all of you, we would not be where we are today! Thank you, Thank you!

South Lake Pop Warner Eagles Do It Again!

The 2007 South Lake Pop Warner Eagles Junior Pee Wee Football Team won 18-6 against the Tampa Sharks! It was the Inaugural Terry Chancey I-4 Bowl in Tampa Florida. The Terry Chancey bowl games were for all teams that were Runner Ups in the Mid Florida Championship Games. Great way to end the season! Way to go South Lake Eagles Junior Pee Wees!!

We would like to congratulate all of the girls from South Lake Eagles Pop Warner Cheer Jr Midget squad! Our squad took 2nd Place in the National Pop Warner Cheer & Dance Championship on December 7, 2006. We had some great competition from squads from all over the Nation that we were competing against at the Disney's Wide World of Sports. Our Jr Midget and Midget squads advanced to Regionals on November 24 & 26, of 2006, to compete against squads out of the entire state of Florida. Our Midget squad took 3rd place and Our Jr Midget squad, again, took 1st place. Our Jr Midget squad then Advanced to Nationals on December 7, 2006 that was held at the Disney's Wide World of Sports and Competed against squads from all over the Nation. The Jr Midget Cheer Squad placed 2nd in the Nation and was also nominated for the Spirit of Sportsmanship award. South Lake Eagles Pop Warner Cheer has successfully received 2 other awards through the years for our growing squads! Many thanks to all of those involved with the South Lake Eagles Pop Warner Cheer Program. We couldn't have done this without the support of parents, families and the community.
